Hampstead Residence
Period Restoration
The Project
A Victorian villa where original plasterwork and joinery had been softened by generations of overpainting. The brief was restoration of detail before any question of colour.
The Challenge
Ornate cornices and ceiling roses were heavily clogged, and several sash windows required timber repair before they could be redecorated.
Preparation
Detail was eased back patiently by hand, plaster repairs matched to profile, and decayed timber cut out and spliced before priming.
Materials & Finishes
Traditional breathable finishes to original plaster, oil-based systems to external joinery, and a soft-sheen palette drawn from period references.
The Result
Ornament that reads sharply again, sash windows returned to full function, and a hallway that now carries the house rather than apologising for it.
